Exercise:
Two long parallel conductors at a distance of rO have equal currents flowing through them and they attract each other with FO per lO length. Determine this current strength and decide whether the currents in the conductors must flow in parallel or anti-parallel direction.

Solution:
In order for the conductors to repel each other the currents must be anti-parallel. The magnetic field of one conductor at the location of the other is B fracmu_ Ipi r hence the second conductor in this field will experience F ell I B ell I fracmu_ Ipi r fracmu_ ell I^pi r of Biot-Savart force.
